Hans Hubermann is the foster father of Liesal Meminger. He is a man who will do anything to make sure his family is safe, even if it means sacrificing his own life. His quiet and reserved nature helps him survive many challenging situations - from being suspected by the Nazi Party, to coming out of the war alive. There is also the accordion, which becomes a part of him through the years, allowing him to be a part-time painter and a part-time accordionist in the streets of Molching, Germany.
